The English Poker Open, new to the poker circuit, took place from September 15th to 17th. It was held in the UK's biggest card room Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham. Main event winner Brit David La Ronde scooped £208,367 and an enviable 'George' trophy.
Attracting over 200 entrants who either bought in directly or qualified via satellites at various online poker rooms, the main event attracted many pros including Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestad, Liv Boeree and recent 2nd place European Poker Tour winner Marc Goodwin.
The Open's three events provided on-going entertainment, large public audiences and culminated in a dramatic final table and heads-up display in the main event. The tournament delivered some notable hands that became legendary to the event. With a 3-way all-in (pocket Aces against pocket Kings against AK), the one out-King on the river created shockwaves.
