The English Poker Open is Europe's newest and most exciting annual poker tournament, celebrating England as one of the world’s top live poker locations. 2009 was the EPO inaugural event, which was held from 15-17 September at Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham, England, UK. Dusk Till Dawn is the premier, largest and only poker-dedicated venue in the UK.
The main event buy–in for the 2009 English Poker Open main event was $5,000 + $300 U.S. The buy-in for the side events were in pounds sterling and set at £500 + £60 and £250 + £30.
There was a guaranteed prize pool for the main event of one million dollars US. And the maximum number of players for The English Poker Open Main Event was 270.
The English Poker Open was a 3 day event with a total of 3 tournaments with the main event final on the 17th September. There was also a £500 freeze-out on day 2 which was a 2 day event and a £250 freeze out on day 3 which was a 1 day event .
Attracting a significant number of pro players and amateurs alike, the field demonstrated a very high level of play and the English Poker Open is set to be an annual event on the worldwide poker circuit.
