London born Ross Boatman is an English RADA-trained actor, professional poker player and like his brother, Barny Boatman, is a member of the poker-playing group The Hendon Mob. He learnt the basics of poker strategy in the 1980s at his local pool hall and soon began playing in events himself, turning pro in 1992. Ross, like the rest of the Mob, has become a regular face at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), making his first final table in 2002. He finished 7th at the final table, which he and his brother Barny both sat at, the first brothers to both play in the same final table at a WSOP event. Later that year he cashed $10,000 in the no limit Texas hold 'em main event, leaving the tournament in 34th place out of 631 entrants. Boatman has also made the final table of the European Poker Tour (EPT) previously, finishing in 6th place for a reward of €140,000. Boatman also writes for the Hendon Mob’s website. He was previously sponsored by the Prima Poker Network and is currently a Full Tilt pro. As of 2009, his total live tournament winnings exceed $1,400,000.
