    New- New Jersey Poker Rooms

    Hello All-

I ran a search for the state "New Jersey" and nothing came back, so I figured it was safe to post, hopefully without taking too much grief if this has been addressed already.... and if that is the case, I apologize in advance. Ever since "Black Friday" as a US citizen, I basically stopped playing poker online, even though there were still a few rooms that catered to us. Now, as it's all over the news, New Jersey has legalized online poker for New Jersey residents to play against other NJ residents, for the time being at least. (I assume the business model would be to expand as soon as it becomes legal state by state.)

A quick search has kicked back the information that the two biggest poker rooms in NJ's infant legalization experiment are WSOP.com (the one where you play for real money, not the one where they persistently annoyingly advertised "Never lose a dime playing poker!" or whatever, loosely quoting) and the Party/Borgata Network. Now I tried clicking on the Party icon only to be bounced to a page informing me I could not play here as a US citizen.

    My questions are as follows:
    1) Does RTR plan on offering rakeback at these sites for NJ citizens?
    AND...
    2) In the mean time, should I go ahead and create accounts at these two sites, confident that once RTR does begin to offer rakeback, that I would be able to get it?

Ever since becoming familiar with the concept of rakeback and this site specifically, I never make a move to make a new account until I've checked whether I can get rakeback or not. I do not want to lose the future opportunity to get rakeback if I go ahead, make an account, and then cannot get it "retagged" in the future.

For now, I'm pretty much in a "wait and see" mode but I am pretty psyched to be able to play online again, perhaps with even a real choice of games at various stakes (sarcasm If it means waiting a little bit to make sure I get rakeback, I'd rather do that. However, it is sometimes possible to get rakeback even if you have set up an account already at a site (I'm not sure why a site would go ahead and give you rakeback if they already have your business, but who am I to question a gift? Perhaps they feel that by offering your rakeback, you'll play there more.

Anyone in New Jersey- what are you doing as this system gets up and running?
I'm sure we can feasibly expect to get rakeback at some point, I just don't know when. Is it relatively "safe" to go ahead, take the best bonus offer I can find on these sites, deposit, play and wait?

Any and all information/intelligent dialogue would be most helpful and appreciated

Hey Chissmoose - good post and some good questions.

    To answer your questions

    1) Yes we do but we have to apply for certain licenses. These are in progress but of course the holidays have slowed things down.
    2) If you are happy to sit and wait still then we would probably advise that as we do not know if the rooms will allow you to be tagged back to us once we have a license.

That said, we dont know how long the process will take to get licensed as the NJ Gaming board themselves are learning lots from this process and things are being tweaked here and their. We also do not know what sort of kickbacks etc will be available. Some will have VIP programmes etc and of course we will look to have some special RTR promos. So with all that in mind you shouldn't necessarily hang out too long and prevent yourself from getting the games there. You have to look after your interests first and foremost

Hope that helped a little. Have a great New Year
    Best wishes

    Johnny
