So if you're clever about it you can Rake a little more each month for the 1st 11 months and then Rake a small amount in the 12th month and start over again!
Can you please elaborate on this? Are you saying for definite that these RTR monthly rake races will be an on going thing, and that in order to qualify you have to rake more than you did the previous month? What is the significance of the 12 month period? Also, are the rake requirements based on tournament rake (ie. for cash table only players, the rake in the table will be ~60% of what they've actually raked, and the effective rakeback of the race will be 9% rather than 15%).

For me personally, these changes for RTR members on sky sound pretty terrible, but it's hard for me to say for sure, because you've made it extremely unclear exactly what the changes are. I definitely didn't receive an email or anything about these changes, and have only found out about them by stumbling across threads like this.

If it is the case that RTR members on sky are now under the new standard sky rewards program, but with the possibility of earning 15% extra rakeback (or 9% for cash players) through a monthly rake race, then it's not the end of the world. I guess there are also RTR freerolls that might be of interest to some, but I don't really care for them.

The lack of transparency and clarity regarding these changes is what bothers me. Just please let us know exactly what the new situation is.

EDIT: it would also be useful if you could make a second table like the one you already have on the RTR Sky page, but with rake requirements and rakeback percentages adjusted for cash table only players. I know this will make the rakeback appear worse, but the table at the moment is potentially misleading for people who don't play tournaments, which I imagine is a lot of players.

For instance - are the monthly rake requirements the same, but with the effective rakeback only 60% of what a tournament only player would get; or do cash players also have to rake more in order to reach the same rewards level? (e.g. for Priority Bronze, tournament players rakes £1000 a month for 30% rb; does a cash player have to rake £1667 a month for 18% at the same status level)

Hi Boppit – thanks for your post

    In order:

We can never say that promotions are indefinite because poker rooms have a say in them and can change their minds at will.

My 12 month analogy was that you could rake as follows – (saying you were a medium volume player who could comfortably rake between 200-300 a month)

    Month 1 - $200
    Month 2- $205
    Etc. etc.
    Month 11 - $250

Before The raking $199 in Month 12 and starting over again.

That way you get paid out for 11 months and not for the 12th

The Rake chase % is not affected whether you play cash or tourneys as it is based on rake. Therefore all levels are worth 15% except the first which is 10%

Regards the changes – these are not our changes but Sky’s.

We did send out an email notifying all UK and Finnish players of the changes and you were definitely on the mailing list. It may be in your junk/spam – please add us to your safe list going forward for this email newsletter@raketherake.com

Here is a web version of the email
    https://www.raketherake.com/email/20...-2015-sky.html

As for the table we do make it clear that the table is based on Tourney rake and that Cash game only players will get 60% of the rates mentioned.

There has been nothing but transparency as I hope you can see, though I will concede that the newsletter should have mentioned that the table in that was based on tourney based play. But occasionally something slips through the cracks - sorry.

Hope that helps Boppit but please do follow up with any other questions and I will do my best to answer them.

We still feel Sky is a cracking place to play.
    Best wishes

Regarding the monthly rake races, I guess you can't guarantee that they'll be an indefinite thing, but would it be reasonable for RTR members to expect these monthly rake races to be ongoing for the next few months at least? Or is this an experimental thing that could be scrapped after July?

For me, the amount I've raked according to the rake race table is ~54% of what I've raked according to the 'My Account' page, even though they are both supposedly up to date. As a cash game only player, I assumed this was because my rake was being counted as only 60%, but there must be something else amiss?

I'm pretty sure I didn't receive it, and have checked all my mailboxes. I have received newsletters from RTR without issue in the past, but if no one else has experienced problems, I accept that it's probably at my end. I'll add the address to my safelist. Thank you for reposting the email.

I'm not convinced this is even true though, as cash players would have to rake significantly more in order to reach certain reward levels. For instance, by my calculations I think that a cash player who rakes £1000 in a month would not receive 18% rakeback (60% of the 30% for bronze priority), but instead would effectively only receive 12% assuming they rake at least £200 for each of the four weeks, as for the month they will only have earnt 6000pts and will therefore not achieve priority status. Unless I'm somehow wrong here, this is why I think it's misleading, and why I think it would be more transparent to also include a cash-only rakeback table.

    Hey boppit -

Yes we hope the races will be here for a few months at least - but Sky always have the last word.

I dont know why the amounts you see are different. I suspect they were uploaded at different times of the day but we will look into it - thanks for the heads up.

I'll have someone look into the maths you mention. I see what you are trying to say.

    We'll be back...

Thanks for the info. Might be worth feeding back to sky that this kind of clause is likely to be counterproductive, I can see the reasoning in that they want people to generate more rake but its very difficult to generate rake a little more each month as some months u have more time etc. If they do put this clause in I am more likely to swap to another site for a month and alternate so I get decent rb each month which will lose sky money in the long run.

    Understood Thanks

It's still TBC, but we will be raising all points with them.

Is there any news regarding next month's rake race? Is it going ahead, and will there be a requirement to rake more than you raked in July?
