Impact of Multi-tabling on Rakeback

Posted on by RTR Dave

One of the great things about online poker is that you can simultaneously play multiple tables. And if you’re a successful player, multi-tabling maximizes your winnings by allowing you to play more hands per hour. In addition to winnings, multi-tabling increases the amount of rakeback you earn simply because more rake is being contributed. But some players may not realize just how much multi-tabling impacts rakeback, so it’s worth taking a closer look at this.

Starting with cash games, let’s say that you play 6-max, $0.25/$0.50 NL Hold’em, and you have a 30% rakeback deal at Paradise Poker. If you were playing one table, averaging 100 hands per hour, the rake was 5%, and the average pot size was $6, you’d be contributing $5 in rake per hour [(100 hands x 0.05 rake x $6 pot) / 6 players]. Considering that you have a 30% rakeback deal, you’d receive $1.50 in rakeback every hour.

Now let’s assume that you multi-table three poker tables; your rakeback per hour would theoretically increase to $4.50 (3 tables x $1.50). Bump your multi-tabling up to eight tables, and you’d be receiving $12 per hour in rakeback alone! If this were the case, you wouldn’t even have to win much money on the actual tables to make a modest living at the $0.25/$0.50 stakes.

Moving to poker tournaments, multi-tabling is also quite useful for both MTT and SNG players. For example, if you sign up for the 30% rakeback deal at PKR, and you buy into a $50 + $5 MTT, you’d receive $1.50 in rakeback ($5 x 0.30). But if you played four tournaments at the same time, you could earn $6 in rakeback over the same span.

SNG’s are even better because they’re much quicker to play than MTT’s, taking only an hour or less to complete. So if you played four $50 + $5 SNG’s, you’d be making around $6 in rakeback per hour.

As you can see, multi-tabling is an excellent way to increase the value of your top rakeback deal. Assuming you are a multi-tabler, or you’re thinking of becoming one, make sure to check out the best rakeback deals offered through RakeTheRake before getting started.
