Bodog hoping Jay Tan will continue appealing to Asia

Posted on by RTR Dave

While many online poker sites continue to market themselves to North America, South America and Europe, Bodog has been taking a different approach. Much of their recent marketing efforts have been directed towards the largely untapped Asian poker market, which is home to over 4.1 billion people. And female pro Jay Tan has played a large role in this plan.

Now Tan’s poker resume won’t blow anybody away since she’s not a multi-million dollar winner or WSOP champion. However, the 28-year-old is no doubt a respectable player who’s earned $252,707 in poker tournaments – despite having played live tourneys for less than three years! This being said, it’s no surprise Bodog Poker recently chose to re-sign Tan to another deal.

Tan said:

Becoming a sponsored player has always been a dream and to do so well in my first year was an unexpected bonus.”

I feel very at home with Bodog and look forward to carrying on where I left off.”

Tan plays a critical role in helping Bodog appeal to Asian poker players. Not only is she attractive and a solid player, but she’s also a Hong Kong native. These days, Tan divides her time between playing in Australia and Macau, which is definitely reflected in her tournament results. Speaking of which, you can check out some of her best tourney finishes below (all results USD):

  • 2013 Aussie Millions Main Event – 7th place, $158,355
  • 2012 APT Macau HK$5,000 NLHE – 2nd place, $12,259
  • 2012 Macau Poker Cup: Red Dragon Main Event – 5th place, $40,622
  • 2012 Macau Poker Cup HK$4,500 NLHE – 2nd place, $15,475
