The management of two leading online poker rooms Absolute Poker and UltimateBet have recently announced the launch of CEREUS, a brand new poker platform. The merger between these two online poker giants will make CEREUS the third largest online poker network.

After starting out with more than 6,000 players, the 2008 World Series of Poker $10,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em has now toned down to the final 27 at the end of Day 6. The payout figure crossed the six figure mark, but what was even more attractive to the players was the fact that they had made it to a big event in the second most prestigious WSOP of all time.

After making it big as an actor in network TV show ‘EastEnders’, Michael Greco has now turned professional gambler. Winning a prestigious leg of a British poker tournament, Greco walked away with more than $100,000. This was witnessed at the third round of popular British tournament the ‘Grosvenor Poker Tour’ held in Cardiff.

In a major motion picture release, Nicolas Cage will star as Amarillo Slim, widely believed to be one of the best poker players who ever lived, on the big screen. Currently characterized as being ‘in production’ by IMDB US, it is unclear as to when poker fans will get this treat. It is however, expected to be sometime in 2009.
