Like many others, we’ve covered the story that did the rounds recently concerning the alleged legal proceedings in India so that 8 year old Aashish Nanak from Chandigarh could claim his 22,912,500.38 Indian Rupees ($500,000 dollars!) winnings from playing an online poker game. And we smelt a slight odour of rat from the start!

The idea that an eight year old could bypass the strict protocols on any online gambling site was very unlikely. It’s certainly not possible to do without eventually being rumbled at www.raketherake.com or any number of the poker sites we recommend. While the story does have the romance of a “slumpuppy millionaire“ theme to it, like most other fairy tales it’s simply not true.

RakeTheRake has done some detective work and although we can’t gather everyone in the smoking room while we expose the culprit, we can at least categorically state that Aashish and the entire story appears to be the figment of someone’s very fertile imagination. He’s not even Indian! The image accompanying the story appears to have originally come from http://dannycasler.wordpress.com and is in fact a Guatemalan kid using a beat up old keyboard as a toy. The Internet is fantastic, but always surf without entirely suspending your disbelief and just because it’s in print or on screen doesn’t mean it’s necessarily true.

What is beyond doubt is the fact that www.raketherake.com insists our partners adhere to the very highest professional and ethical standards. They do not actively target or accept any persons who are less than 18 years of age (or a higher age that may apply in the respective jurisdiction) regardless of the local age of majority. We here at RakeTheRake also do our best to actively encourage responsible gaming. It’s important to remember that you’re buying fun, not investing your money. Set strict limits on how much time and money you’re going to spend, quit while you’re ahead, never chase losses and only gamble with money you can afford to lose – don’t put your livelihood or family at risk.

A new bill that would advance the legalization and regulation (and taxation) of online gambling in the United States on a national scale has been introduced to U.S. Congress by Senators Judd Gregg and Ron Wyden.

The bill, S3108, or the Bipartisan Tax Fairness and Simplification Act, is, on the surface, an ambitious effort to overhaul a great deal of tax laws and regulations in the United States. Described by the media as a call to dramatically lower taxes on big corporations, which would result in cutting corporation tax from by 11 percent to a flat rate of 24 percent
The bill also notes that there are rewards to be gotten from the taxation of casinos and poker and thus, indicates the legalisation and regulation of online gambling in the U.S. as part of the overall plan.

It’s an ambitions bill and the idea of reducing corporation tax in the current economic climate will be met with controversy. However the prospect of resolving the issue of online gambling legislation can surely only be a good thing.

For most businesses online it really is a priority to be listed high on a search engine, and the crème de la crème of the engines has to be Google. Companies are known to spend a great deal of money and time working to the strict rules of ‘search engine optimisation’ in order to claw their way to the top few pages for certain search terms.

Google is the goal for most businesses on the web and companies work hard to get to the top. However, in recent years Google has become more and more strict on the methods it allows for a company to improve its page ranking.

A new term emerged in the Internet world a couple of years ago known as the ‘Google slap’. This is a general term used for when a website is penalised by the mammoth search engine and results in the website ranking falling to page numbers that are likely never to be found by your average online user!

Google stepped into the world of online gambling and decided to ‘slap’ certain companies and drop their ranking. Just such an event happened for Media Corp which owned the website www.gambling.com. In 2007 the website would appear at number 1 on page one, which of course made it a very valuable address. Due to the Google slap the site dropped overnight to page 100 when people searched for the term ‘gambling’.

Chief Executive Mr Drummond was angered and confused at this treatment and contested it strongly. He believes that the result of this treatment by Google has lost over $1 million a year in revenue from the website.

It seems that Google have recognised their error and the slap was removed and the site has reappeared in its previous position.

Find top ranking rakeback deals at all the best online poker rooms.
