While there have been a number of poker shows on TV over the years, few of them catch the attention of mainstream audiences. But then along came Underground Poker, which had the potential to do so. Featuring poker pros and best friends Antonio Esfandiari and Phil Laak, Underground Poker was given a chance by the Discovery Channel. The pilot episode saw Esfandiari and Laak spending time in New Orleans while trying to find a juicy private cash game. However, following the show’s debut last month, the Discovery Channel chose not to pick it up for a full season. But as …

Posted on by RTR Dave

The UK’s Barry Denson recently set his eyes on a unique poker endurance record held by Phil Laak. While playing at the G Casino in Manchester, Denson lasted just over 120 hours on the poker tables and set the new endurance record. After breaking the record, Denson said that he trained for …

A UK man named Barry Denson is embarking on the biggest challenge of his casino poker career after announcing his intention to break the poker endurance record. Currently, American poker pro Phil Laak holds the record since he played for 115 straight hours in June of 2010. If Denson wants to take this record down, he’d better be prepared to push his body to the limits. When Laak set the record, he lost track of where he was after about 90 hours of playing. The “Unabomber” was quoted as saying, “I thought I was in a foreign land and not …

Full Tilt Pros missing from Seventh Season of High Stakes Poker

The good news is that we don’t have to wait long for the next season of High Stakes Poker because the seventh season begins on February 26th. The bad news is that several notable Full Tilt Poker pros won’t be involved this time around. It’s been reported that popular players like Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Ilari Sahamies, Eli Elezra and Patrick Antonius won’t be appearing in any High Stakes Poker episodes. The reason why is because they’re all signed by Full Tilt, and PokerStars has taken over as the official sponsor of High Stakes Poker. And even though their 27% …

Players Already Attempting to beat Phil Laak’s Endurance Record

It’s only been three months since Phil Laak broke the poker endurance record at the Bellagio Casino.  He managed to play poker for 115 straight hours, which destroyed the old record of 72 hours set by Paul Zimbler.  At the end of his poker hands, Laak was in pretty bad shape and was extremely tired.  So it would take a monumental effort to beat Laak’s record for the most time spent at the poker table along with plenty of courage. Interestingly enough, 80 players from New Zealand are up to the challenge of trying to break Laak’s record.  The group …
