Fort Sill Apache Tribe of Oklahoma Subpoenaed

The National Indian Gaming Commission, a federal entity responsible for regulating tribal gaming, issued a subpoena to the Fort Sill Apache Tribe of Oklahoma. This was to seek details on the poker tournament the tribe had hosted in Akela last month. The subpoena demanded details on the number of participants, name of employees and other critical tournament information.

WSOP Final Table Set

The World Series of Poker is over for now. That is until we take a break and get to November 9, when it all begins again, and with style. 9 Finalists have been chosen and will battle it out for the gold. A winner will be determined on November 10. In order of descending chip stack, the nine finalists are -

Final 27 Battle it out for WSOP $10,000

After starting out with more than 6,000 players, the 2008 World Series of Poker $10,000 No-Limit Hold ‘em has now toned down to the final 27 at the end of Day 6. The payout figure crossed the six figure mark, but what was even more attractive to the players was the fact that they had made it to a big event in the second most prestigious WSOP of all time.

2008 Borgata Open Announced at WSOP Peak

You’ve heard of it, you’ve been in it. This year, it is back again with a bang. Presenting the Borgata Open 2008, one of East Coast’s most prestigious events. Held at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City every year, this year it is scheduled to be held from September 3rd through September 18th. All 16 events will be played this time, including the ever popular and the grand WPT $10,000 No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em.

Amarillo Slim now on the big screen

In a major motion picture release, Nicolas Cage will star as Amarillo Slim, widely believed to be one of the best poker players who ever lived, on the big screen. Currently characterized as being ‘in production’ by IMDB US, it is unclear as to when poker fans will get this treat. It is however, expected to be sometime in 2009.
