Texas Poker Basics

In Texas Hold 'em players are dealt two cards face down by the dealer. Before this is done the two players to the left of the dealer have to place a minimum bet known as the blinds. Typically, this is a small bet, and after each round, the "blinders" moves clockwise with the dealer.

Play begins once the blinds have been posted, and each player is given two cards face down. These are known as hole cards.

Once everyone is dealt a card, a round of betting commences. Players will be given the option to raise, check or fold. This round is known as the pre-flop.

After the initial betting round is complete, the dealer places three cards face-up on the table. Another round of betting then ensues.

After the flop, the dealer places another card face-up on the table. Another round of betting then takes place.

Finally, the fifth card is dealt and players once again reach another round of betting. This may be followed by the final betting round known as the showdown which occurs if there is more than one player left. At the end of the showdown, players show their cards, and the best hand wins.

Texas poker is one of the most popular online poker games today, and of all the casino games in general, it has to be the most famous. Learning to play poker is both fun and enjoyable thanks to the many online poker rooms that now exist online.
