All set for the English Poker Open

The English Poker Open hits Nottingham this Tuesday with an array of star-studded pros hitting the felt. The 3 day spectacle, sponsored by RakeTheRake, will see 270 eager players compete against top pros Phil Hellmuth, Doyle Brunson and Chad Brown but to name a few, all searching for the great title and prize-pool that is up for grabs. With the event ending the day before the World Series of Poker Europe is scheduled to begin, the English Poker Open is set to make great strides in putting the UK firmly on the poker map, and at a location outside of London too. The great range of tournament prices –from the $5000 main event to the smaller £250 event on the final day – provide an incentive for those wanting to compete against the greats of the poker world, or those aiming to find their feet in the game with a smaller bankroll. With James Akenhead, who recently made the final table of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, Ross Boatman (The Hendon Mob, Full Tilt Pro) and Liv Boeree all signed up, a British hope will be aiming to gather the title in their home country, and with such talent being paraded at the event, there are few that can doubt the hopes of the English contingent coming out with something. With the 3-day tournament offering so much, there are countless reasons for poker players of any skill level to want to be involved with what is destined to be a prestigious event.
