PKR Staff member Scott Shelly wins first bracelet in WSOPE Event

PKR staff member Scott Shelley, better known as PKR_Scott, last night outlasted 582 players to win the £1,000 buy-in WSOPE event at Leicester Square’s Empire Casino.

On home soil and in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, the 24 year old won his first WSOP title after beating defending champion and double bracelet winner JP Kelley heads up. The final hand saw both players move in all pre-flop with Shelley holding pocket threes against Kelly’s Queen-Jack. The race was all but over when Shelley hit a set on the flop.

Widely recognised as one of the game’s premier young talents, Kelly narrowly missed the opportunity to make poker history. A win would have made him one of the select few to win back-to-back World Series events, the first person to win two WSOPE bracelets and would also have seen him overtake the renowned Phil Ivey in becoming the youngest player to win three WSOP titles.

A clearly stunned Shelley said “I can’t believe that I’ve won a bracelet and a six figure cheque!” As well as the coveted gold bracelet, Shelley also takes home £133,857 – an impressive return on the £100 he spent to win his seat in a PKR staff satellite previous week.

Malcolm Graham, CEO of PKR commented; “We’re all absolutely delighted for Scott, who’s been a hugely popular member of the PKR team. It genuinely couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.”

Shelley’s win completes an outstanding week for the next-generation online poker room which was also crowned #1 company in The Sunday Times Tech Track 100 league table.
