Tyson Marks wins Record $2.28 Million Payout at PokerStars

If ever there was a reason to play online poker, then that reason came this week when Tyson “potterpoker” Marks won $2.28 million in the PokerStars’ WCOOP Main Event.

2,443 players either paid the $5,200 buy-in or earned their way in through satellites to play poker for the $10 million Main Event prize pool.  By the second day, most of these players were gone as only 271 people remained in this huge poker tournament.  When the final poker table rolled around, Tyson Marks had taken the lead and was in control.

Marks only increased the lead as he took plenty of poker chips from the other players before hitting a nut flush to knock his final opponent – “joeysweetp” – out of the tourney.  After winning the WCOOP Main Event, Marks set a record for the largest internet poker payout in history with the $2.28 million.

Here is how the rest of the final table looked:

1st place: Tyson “potterpoker” Marks – $2,278,097
2nd place: “joeysweetp” – $1,404,725
3rd place: “Russian_nuts” – $1,019,952
4th place: “dazzy2004” – $696,255
5th place: Jack “jackellwood” Ellwood – $509,976
6th place: Darren “darrenelias” Elias – $396,987
7th place: “ROMDOM” – $280,945
8th place: Grayson “gray31” Ramage – $183,225
9th place: “carryhero” – $112,988

As you can see, three different players earned over $1 million in this tournament so there was no shortage of big prize money to go around.  So if you’re looking to get rich through poker, then playing in the WCOOP or SCOOP would be your best bet.  The SCOOP offers about the same amount of money as the WCOOP and it takes place in May.  So if you complete the poker download of PokerStars and start playing now, you’ll be ready to play for millions of dollars when the SCOOP comes around.
