Posted on by RTR Dave

RakeTheRake caught up with Mickey Petersen shortly after his English Poker Open 2012 victory to talk about his weakness for mac cheese, his online nickname, Magic : The Gathering, and of course poker… RTR: Mickey, congratulations on your big win at the English Poker Open last month! Could you tell us a bit about your decision to enter? MP: Thanks! Yeah what happened was that I had just come home from a trip to Denmark to visit some friends and we had grinded every day of the WCOOPs for two weeks straight. I had to go back to London a …

RakeTheRake Caught up with Liv Boeree at the EPO2012 to talk Poker, Pranks, and Heavy Metal

RakeTheRake caught up with Liv at the English Poker Open 2012 last week to chat about pranks on her stepdad, guitars, heavy metal, awards, and of course poker. RTR: You shared a pic on twitter of you and your poor sleeping stepfather with a precariously balanced table on his lap, topped with boots and a watering can – how did that one go down? Liv: Haha, yes I like to mess with people, particularly when they’re sleeping.  My Stepdad was taking a nap outsite and he’s a notoriously heavy sleeper – as such I set up that contraption  that ensured …

Surinder Sunar Makes Great Call and Busts Laumier

With blinds at 8k/16k, action has really picked up on the final day of the EPO2012. Chris Bjorin just busted Ben Jackson out in sixth place (£15,180) to win a pot worth 318,500 chips. Jackson moved all-in with Ah-5h, only to be called by Bjorin and his pocket rockets. The board failed to improve Jackson’s hand and he was out of the tourney. Chip leader Jamie Roberts also busted Niels Ladefoged to push his stack over 1.5 million. As for how the hand went down, Ladefoged moved all-in from the cut-off with J-K suited, and Roberts called with pocket jacks. …

Ben Jackson is OUT of the English Poker Open!

Ben Jackson is OUT of the English Poker Open! With just nine big blinds to his name, he shoved it all into the middle pre-flop, raising against Chris Bjorin with A5. Unhappily for Ben, the Swedish bracelet winner held aces and there was to be no miracle on the board to save the Genting Pro. Ben just told us that he is a little disappointed to never have got going today but found no spots and had some pretty awful hole cards – we can certainly testify to that in the commentary box! Ben is feeling great about his game, …

Devilfish stops by, Trickett out, Roberts on Top

It’s been a very eventful second day thus far at the EPO2012. Only 19 players remain in the hunt for the £78,660 top prize out of the original 63 runners that began Day 2. Poker star Sam Trickett is the latest player to bust out after he lost a big hand to Jamie Roberts. Trickett slow-played his pocket rockets in a three-handed pot where the flop was dealt Qs-5s-2h. Chris O’Donnell (Kd-9d) led out with an 8k raise, Sam called, and Jamie Roberts (2d-2c) raised to 34k with his set; O’Donnell folded while Trickett called. The turn came out Th, …
