Day 1 Recap of EPO2012 – Haque holds Commanding Lead

As expected, the 2012 English Poker Open attracted a sizable field of runners with 138 players buying into this tournament. 63 of these players will still be hunting for a piece of the £276,000 prize pool when Day 2 of the EPO starts today. Mohammed Haque is looking for a big share of this money since he currently holds the lead with 178,000 chips. Haque stormed to the top of the chip count after having an outstanding run on Day 1B. Akenhead wins Big Pot, Channing and Quoss holding on

Londoner James Akenhead is looking strong at the 2012 English Poker Open. He took down a 29,800 pot against Ramey Shaio and became second on the feature table with 34,900 chips. As for the hand details, Akenhead (AA) bet 2,450 on a flop of 6h-9s-Qh. Ramey called the raise and the turn was a 4c. After both players checked the turn, Akenhead went all-in when the river was a 5s. Ramey called the 5,625-chip difference, which gave James and his pocket rockets the hand. Trickett busts First Player on EPO Feature Table

We were only a few hours into the 2012 English Poker Open when Sam Trickett busted somebody at the feature table. While holding pocket 5’s, Trickett was the recipient of a great flop as the cards were dealt A-5-Q. After flopping a set, Sam bet out 1,600 chips, only to be reraised by the highly-aggressive Ajay Ramesh (A-Q) with 3,500. Trickett then went all-in and was called by Ramesh and his two pair. Liv Boeree will Host Poker in the Park
