Peter Eastgate joins Betfair Poker

Posted on by RTR Dave

From winning the 2008 WSOP Main Event to retiring from poker at the age of 25, Peter Eastgate has had one of the most fascinating poker careers ever. And he’s added a new chapter to this highly interesting career after signing with Betfair Poker. Signing with the London-based poker site, Eastgate makes it clear that he’s no longer retired from poker. The Denmark native recently spoke about coming back to poker by saying, “I had a 10-month hiatus where I didn’t play poker, and I felt the lust to play poker again because I still enjoy the game, and there’s …

Peter Eastgate comes Out of Retirement

Last time we heard from Peter Eastgate, he seemed to be distancing himself from casino poker in every way possible by putting his 2008 Main Event bracelet up for auction. And while most would consider this an omen that Eastgate is never coming back to poker, the PokerStars pro showed why you should never assume things after he officially came out of retirement yesterday. Eastgate made his formal announcement through an online poker blog that read, “Sometimes in life, a person can feel lost and wake up one morning not recognizing who he is. Last summer, that was how I …

Daniel Negreanu becomes All-time Tournament Winner Again

Daniel Negreanu is already considered one of the top poker tournament players in the world. But some might consider Negreanu THE best tournament player after he re-took first place on the all-time money winners list this past week. Negreanu leapfrogged Phil Ivey on the tournament money winners list after finishing second in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure High Rollers event. Negreanu battled through a 38-player field, and into a heads-up match with Eugene Katchalov; unfortunately for Negreanu, he wasn’t able to overcome Katchalov and earn the $1.5 million top prize. Here’s how the top five finishers fared in the $100,000 PCA …

Gold Bracelet Phenomenon Continues: Hassan Kamoei Bracelet on Auction

If you thought the recent string of WSOP* poker tournament bracelets on eBay would end with Peter Eastgate and Paul “The Eskimo” Clark, you thought wrong.  Hassan Kamoei’s 1999 $2,500 Pot-Limit Omaha bracelet has been put up for auction on eBay, and the minimum bid is set at $3,800.  Kamoei survived a final poker table that included Robert Williamson III and T.J. Cloutier to win the bracelet. Speaking of Cloutier, his 2005 $2,500 holdem poker bracelet is what sparked the rash of gold bracelet auctions recently.  A Plano, Texas pawn shop put the bracelet up for auction, meaning that Cloutier …

Peter Eastgate’s Bracelet sells for $147,500

A few days ago, we broke the poker news that 2008 WSOP* Main Event champion Peter Eastgate was selling his gold bracelet on eBay to benefit UNICEF.  Adding further interest to the story, Party Poker pro Tony G released a statement saying that he wanted to win the bracelet so he could make a dog collar out of it.  The controversial casino poker player also said that he fully expected to win the bracelet, and the bidding wouldn’t break $17,500 (bidding started at $16,000). It looks like Tony G was wrong on both accounts since bidding skyrocketed the bracelet price …

Tony G bidding for Peter Eastgate’s WSOP Bracelet

Just months after shocking the world with his retirement from casino poker, Peter Eastgate once again made poker news after putting his 2008 WSOP Main Event gold bracelet for sale on the popular bidding site eBay.  As you may have guessed, Eastgate didn’t put the bracelet on eBay because he is hurting for money; after all, Eastgate did win over $9.15 million in the 2008 Main Event.  Instead, Eastgate put his bracelet up for sale to help the charity organization UNICEF.  Eastgate’s poker tournament bracelet was listed on eBay earlier this week for $16,000 (the price it was appraised at). …

The online poker world has already seen one famous young player retire from the game this year.  Canadian Michael McDonald shocked internet poker players in April when he announced that he no longer had any desire to play poker.  Not to be outdone, 2008 WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate recently announced that he will no longer be playing poker either. Eastgate, who has a high-profile blog on PokerStars, talked about his decision to quit casino poker by writing, “When I started playing poker for a living, it was never my goal to spend the rest of my life as …
