$100M WSOP Winter Online Circuit Returns
By RTR Alex
It may be getting cold outside, but the action is heating up in the world of poker with the return of the WSOP Winter Online Circuit. The series runs December 12 - January 9 and with countless events guaranteeing over $100 million in prizes, GGPoker and Natural8 are adding a little extra to stockings around the world this Christmas.
There are 18 Circuit Ring events, boasting tournaments guaranteed to pay out over $26 million in prize money, where 13 of the rings come with a minimum of $1million each. Hundreds of smaller events and satellite tournaments will be running alongside them, bringing the total prize pool to a huge $100,000,000.
Daniel Negreanu, GG's Global Ambassador and poker legend spoke on his excitement for this years series:
“WSOP Circuit events are great, they give every player the chance to win a big prize and a gold ring while enjoying a taste of the WSOP experience,” said Negreanu. “This time around, there’s also the not-insignificant matter of $100,000,000 in prizes to enjoy as well. It might be getting cold outside but the action is just heating up at GGPoker!”
This series features some of the best tournaments we've seen in recent years, from the Big 50 Millions with a $1 million guarantee to the $10,300 Super Millions with $3 million guaranteed. The star of the show though, is the $525 Main Event which will conclude the series with a massive $5 million guarantee.
For all the fans out there, two of the circuit's biggest events will be broadcast on the GGPoker YouTube channel. The action on the final days for both the $10,300 Super Millions High Roller (December 21) and the $525 Main Event (January 15) will be streamed with cards-up coverage.
WSOP Winter Online Circuit Ring Events Schedule
One of the biggest appeals of this circuit is the leaderboard scheme. Players will receive leaderboard points each time they participate in a ring event or side event. The leaderboard's top 100 players by the series' end, will take home a share of $100,000 in cash prizes. Additionally, any player who wins one of the 18 headline ring events will not only win a WSOP gold ring, they will also qualify for the WSOP Million Dollar Freeroll in Las Vegas (date tbc).
The WSOP Million Dollar Freeroll is a slight change of format for the series. Previously, seats were to the top 100 players on the WSOPC yearly leaderboard - with two seats being awarded to the Player of the Series and the winner of the Main Event. But in this new change, any WSOP Circuit winner earns a ticket to the year-end event.
Another addition is that the winner of the 2021 WSOP Super Circuit Online Series Main Event will win a $50,000 sponsorship and become a member of the newly-created 'Team Champions'. The group of champions will consist of every WSOP Online Series champion, giving fans the opportunity to keep a close eye on their favourite players for the coming year of competitions.
