Jamie Gold

Jamie Gold won the World Series of Poker in 2006 to take away an unbelievable $12 million - the largest prize in the history of all sporting events. As such, Gold ranks 1st on the WSOP's all-time money list.

Jamie learnt to play poker with his mother and grandfather in their competitive family home; his mother was an accomplished poker player, and his grandfather a gin rummy champion. Once he'd graduated with a BA from the University of New York at Albany, and studied Entertainment Law at UCLA, Gold very quickly went on to find work as a talent agent with several high profile agencies. He is credited with developing the careers of stars such as Lucy Liu (Charlie's Angels), James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), and Kristin Davies (Sex and the City). More recently Jamie Gold has worked as a Television Producer.

Jamie Gold entered the 2006 WSOP Main Event as a member of Bodog.com's celebrity team, and proved to be an unstoppable force, leaving his fellow celebrities eating his dust as he rapidly made it to the final table. In the last four days of the main event, Gold beat several much more seasoned players to take first place, and became something of an overnight World Champion.

Interesting fact: Jamie Gold is known for eating blueberries at the poker table.
