NEW Cake Poker Tournament schedule

At last Cake have done something to address their 2nd tier Tournament Schedule. They are now batting with the big hitters

Cake Poker has announced a new menu of multi-table tournaments (MTTs) effective Monday, October 5th, 2009. This is the first phase of a complete redesign of Cake’s MTT offering that has been architected and designed by the industry’s most notable and renowned online tournament players.

Cake Card Room Manager Lee Jones consulted Serge “adanthar” Ravitch and Eric “rizen” Lynch for the redesign. The trio adapted the theory of drafting to the new tournament schedule. Lee Jones comments, “We found the most popular $50 tournament on the Internet, and parked our $50 tournament right behind it. Now our players can play at Cake along with the competitor’s event.” Immediate changes are now in effect and include a re-working of the US prime time guaranteed schedule including:

  • A nightly $50+5 turbo freezeout at 8:00 PM Eastern with a $6,000 Turbo Guarantee
  • A nightly $150+12 freezeout at 9:00 PM Eastern with a $20,000 Guarantee

Cake Poker is quick to point out this is only phase one of a new tournament schedule that will continue to roll out through early 2010. Expect a move towards more freezeout events versus rebuy and add-on tournaments, as well as longer late registration. These key changes are sure to make a significant impact on the tournament schedule, which already offers over $5 Million in monthly guaranteed events
