Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars will have TV Shows

Already the top two online poker rooms and largest providers of rakeback in the world, Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars might be getting even bigger by launching their own TV shows.

PokerStars’ TV show will be called “The Big Game” and it will air on Fox Television.  The Big Game is a takeoff on the popular show “High Stakes Poker” where some of the world’s best known players engage in poker games against each other.  At this point, PokerStars-sponsored player Daniel Negreanu is the only person who’s been confirmed for the show.

The show will be formatted in $200/$400 holdem poker games and every player must have a minimum bankroll of $100,000 (much like High Stakes Poker).  However, one big difference between the two shows is that PokerStars players will have the opportunity to participate in The Big Game through freeroll poker tournaments.  Those who place well in these freerolls will move to the Big Game Final Round.  The top 200 finishers in this poker tournament will have the chance to send casting videos to PokerStars where hopefully they’ll get selected for the show and have their $100,000 buy-in paid.

Full Tilt Poker’s new show will be called “The Poker Lounge”, and it is modeled in the same fashion as “Poker After Dark”.  As is the case, The Poker Lounge will pit the show’s participants in 6-handed sit and go tournaments.  Everyone who plays in these tourneys has to pay $20,000, and the winner of each tournament will walk away with $120,000.

Full Tilt is also giving its poker room members the opportunity to win a spot on The Poker Lounge.  There are at least eight episodes that will feature online qualifiers, and those who win spots on the show will have their $20,000 buy-in paid.  The Poker Lounge will air on Channel 4 in the UK.
