Tom Dwan Starts New High Stakes Challenge

Tom Dwan isn’t finished with the 50,000 poker hands he needs to play against Patrik Antonius to end the first “Durrrr Challenge.”  Even still, Dwan has decided to start a new Million Dollar holdem poker challenge against Dan “JungleMan12” Cates.

The challenge, which just recently started, has already seen the two high stakes pros play through around 7,000 hands.  Looking at how this challenge is only 50,000 hands, it looks as if the two will actually finish their poker games quickly.

The second Durrrr Challenge is currently taking place at Full Tilt Poker and Cates is off to a $692,000 lead.  And it’s interesting that Cates is winning since Dwan seems to be taking down all of the pots worthy of poker news.  Dwan has won a $131,000 pot, a $71,000 hand, and a $54,000 pot during the challenge, which seems to be the only thing keeping Dwan in this competition.  Cates has managed to win over 60% of the hands so far, and he keeps rolling through every online poker session that the two play.

Assuming Cates is winning at the end of the competition, he will take $1.5 million off of Dwan; but if Dwan is winning at the end of the 50,000 hands, he will collect $500,000.

Luckily for Dwan, he is still winning the first challenge against Antonius, and stands to win the same $500,000 off of Patrik.  This is of course in addition to the winnings he has accumulated at the poker tables, and all of the rakeback he is collecting.  And the great thing about Full Tilt is that you don’t have to be a high stakes player to collect on the rakeback deals at FT; all you need to do is complete the poker download and start playing.
