Dwyte Pilgrim earns WPT Borgata Win

Dwyte Pilgrim may not be a household name among casual poker fans, but he has slowly become a force in the casino poker world.  Some excellent WSOP* Circuit finishes and a host of other poker tournament cashes have put Pilgrim on the map.  And his place on the map just got a little bigger after he recently won the WPT Borgata Main Event.

The Borgata event made history for having the largest World Poker Tour tournament field at 1,042 players.  And Pilgrim was able to wade through this large field knocking out holdem poker pros left and right en route to the title.  In the end, Dwyte worked his way into a heads-up match with Kia Mohajeri who he had plenty of words for.  On one of the final poker hands, Pilgrim said, “Yo, if I can’t beat them standing up, I’m gonna take them to the floor.  Gracie Jujitsu!  Think I don’t know where I’m at?  Think I don’t understand every facet of this game?”

It wasn’t long after his puzzling mixed martial arts reference that Dwyte Pilgrim put Mohajeri away and won the title.  The final poker table results of the tournament looked like this:

1. Dwyte Pilgrim $733,802
2. Kia Mohajeri $440,945
3. Ofir Mor $266,835
4. Brandon Novena $223,475
5. Daniel Makowsky $183,449
6. Ben Klier $148,427

In the past, Pilgrim has complained about not being sponsored by an online poker room.  He has even gone as far as to say he’s not promoted right, and should have an internet poker sponsorship deal right now.  But after the Borgata win, it’s likely that Pilgrim will be getting some looks from major online poker rooms.  Who knows….we might even see Dwyte Pilgrim promoting rakeback deals for a site in the near future.
