Harrington and Seidel voted into Poker Hall of Fame

Dan “Action Dan” Harrington and Erik Seidel were voted into the Poker Hall of Fame this week ending speculation about who would earn the two spots this year.

Both Seidel and Harrington have a wealth of experience in the casino poker world.  Harrington has won 2 WSOP gold bracelets, a WPT title and has over $6.6 million in poker tournament winnings.  Going beyond his playing accomplishments, Harrington has also written several poker books including the Harrington on Hold’em and Harrington on Cash Games series.  Both of these poker strategy book series have churned out multiple best sellers and have made Harrington a major authority on poker tips.

Full Tilt Poker player Erik Seidel is equally as accomplished as Harrington since he’s won 8 gold bracelets, a WPT title and has over $10.3 million in career tournament winnings.  Seidel was made famous in the 1998 film Rounders when he was shown finishing second place to Johnny Chan in the 1988 WSOP Main Event.  And his finishes in poker games throughout the years have earned him respect throughout the poker world.

Seidel had quite a bit to say about his induction to the Poker Hall of Fame as he told media members, “I’m very honored to be elected to the Poker Hall of Fame this year, and it’s an extra bonus for me to be going in with Dan Harrington.  We have played together and have been great friends for my entire poker career.  Both of us refined our games at the Mayfair Club in New York.”

The Mayfair Club was the most popular poker club in New York City.  Many future live and online poker stars honed their skills in the Mayfair Club; Stu Ungar, Steve Zolotow, Jay Heimowitz, and Jason Lester as some of the famous people who played here.
