Phil Hellmuth and NFL’s Adrian Peterson hosting Charity Tournament

Former UB Poker pro Phil Hellmuth and Minnesota Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson are teaming up to host a celebrity poker tournament in Dallas, Texas. The tourney, which is called Adrian Peterson’s All-In Celebrity Poker Tournament, is set to take place on February 2nd. Peterson’s tournament figures to draw plenty of celebrities who will already be in town for Super Bowl XLV.

Celebrities competing in this event will pay a $500 entry fee, and play for over $25,000 in prizes. And while there’s no rakeback deals included among the prizes, a WSOP seat figures to be the biggest prize offered.

Besides Hellmuth and Peterson, some of the other celebrities who have already reserved their place at the poker tables include Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitgerald, Dallas Cowboys running back Tashard Choice, Dallas radio personality Corby Davidson, Dallas sportscaster Dale Hansen and Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers.

Peppers is the most interesting football player who is supposed to attend since his Bears are still in the hunt for Super Bowl XLV; the Bears play the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. Of course, if the Bears win, it’s unlikely that Peppers will still play poker because he’ll be preparing for the Super Bowl.

Aside from Peppers, Hellmuth and Peterson are definitely the biggest celebrities involved in the tournament. As you may already know, Hellmuth is arguably the best player in WSOP history since he’s won a record 11 gold bracelets in addition to the 1989 Main Event title.

In his 4-year football career, Peterson has established himself as one of the best, if not the best, running backs in the league. He lead the league in rushing yards in 2008, and won the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2007. In addition to this, Peterson has been named to the NFL Pro Bowl in every season he’s played.

At the top of their respective games, Hellmuth and Peterson make a fantastic duo to host this event.
