2012 Irish Poker Open Satellites

Posted on by RTR Dave

Few poker tournament series can even come close to the Irish Poker Open in terms of what it has accomplished throughout the years. Started by Irish bookmaker Terry Rodgers in 1981, this poker extravaganza has steadily grown over its 32 years of existence, and is now the second longest-running tournament series behind the WSOP.

Not only is it one of the longest-running; the Irish Poker Open Main Event is one of the richest tournaments in the world. In fact, just last year there was a €1,968,000 ($2.6m) Main Event prize pool, and Niall Smyth collected €550,000 ($794,580) after winning the tournament.

Taking everything into account, you can see why hundreds of players enter the Irish Poker Open each year. If you’re interested in joining them from April 6th–9th, 2012 at Dublin’s Burlington Hotel, you should know that several online poker sites are currently running satellites for the event. Here’s a look at some of the rooms that are offering 2012 Irish Poker Open satellites…

Cake Poker: Cake is running a satellite on March 18th that will offer $6,000 prize packages for the Irish Open Main Event. These prize packages cover the €3,500 Main Event seat along with travel and hotel expenses. There are smaller feeder Irish Open Poker satellites which lead to the main satellite on March 18th. Also, don’t forget that if you sign up at Cake Poker through RakeTheRake, you’ll receive a top rakeback deal of 33%.

Stan James Poker: The main qualifier at Stan James is the €550 Irish Open Grand Final, which takes place on March 25th. Several €5,000 Irish Poker Open prize packages will be offered, and each one will cover the €3,500 Main Event buy-in, €750 in spending money, and a 5-night hotel stay in Dublin. If you can’t afford the €550 Grand Final satellite buy-in, there are also feeder satellites starting at just €3. As with Cake Poker, sign up at Stan James through RakeTheRake for the highest rakeback deal.

Paddy Power Poker: One more place that is still running 2012 Irish Poker Open satellites is Paddy Power Poker, which makes sense because they are the Irish Open sponsors. They’ll be staging a huge €320 satellite on March 18th, and 30 prize packages will be given away. Each prize package is worth €4,600, and €3,500 of this will go towards the Main Event buy-in, while the remaining €1,100 is reserved for spending money and hotel expenses.
