For a long time poker rooms have moved away from flat rakeback programs, replacing them with VIP programs that in general reward you with a higher return rate the more you rake, the higher limits and the more you play. Lately we've seen new and rather creative VIP programs, e.g. rewarding you based on the amount of hands you play instead of the amount of points and rake you accumulate. TigerGaming have taken things even a step further. They take you right back to school.
You will receive leader board points calculated using a mathematical formula. Your position in the leader board will in turn make you eligible for reload bonuses if you are a cashgame player or a leader board cash prize if you are an S&G or tournament player. Below we've attempted to make everything as clear as possible and also give you some suggestions on how you can maximize your cashback.
The VIP program for cashgame players is called Comp Points. To participate you have to OPT IN. You do that by sending an E-Mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with "Join TeamTiger" in the subject line.
Your leader board points determine which reload bonus you are eligible for. Points are calculated by the following formula:
Leader board points = (Winning hands/Raked hands*1000*Log(Amount Won))*10
Now, there are a couple of things to keep in mind here. Points are only awarded for Texas Hold'em and Omaha real money ring games and for hands where 3 or more players contributed to the pot. Here, amount won is the accumulated amount of all the pots you've won during the leader board period. Your total leader board points accumulate week after week and the TeamTiger Leader board is reset every third month.
Because of the characteristics of the logarithmic function the style of your play (Winning hands/raked hands ratio) will have a bigger impact on your overall leader board points than the amount you've won. The logarithmic function also allows you to 'catch up' really fast in the beginning. We highlight this through two examples:
|Amount won ||Leader board points (W/R = 1/6) ||LP(W/R = 1/3)
As you can see, with a winning hands/raked hands ratio twice as big, you'll get the same amount of leader board points by winning 100 TIMES less.

S&G and Tournament players
If you play S&Gs or Tournaments you accumulate points that count towards one out of three leader boards, depending on the buy-in. Points you receive are calculated using the following formula:
Leader board points = ([ Sqrt (Total registrations for the tournament) / Sqrt (Your finish position) ]*[ Log (Buy-in price + 1) * 100])*10
Without going into details, there is a simple tip for players aiming to cash in the gold race and that want to maximize their cashback rate at the same time. The gold level includes tournaments with a buy-in ranging from $10 and upwards. Due to the characteristics of the logarithmic function gold players should play as low buy-ins as possible.
|Here is an example to clarify it:
|Total buy-in: $11
||Total buy-in: $108
|Finishing position: 5
||Finishing position: 5
|Leader board points: 152.62
||Leader board points: 288.14
Playing two $10+1 S&G's would give you more leader boards points than playing one $100+8 S&G, raking four times less.
The same is true for bronze and silver players, but you would have a really hard time to finish in a money position on the bronze and silver leader board playing only S&G's with 'low' buy-ins. So if you're aiming for a money position in the bronze and silver race, you should probably play as 'high' buy-ins as possible.
Bronze - This level includes tournaments with a buy-in ranging from $0.05 to $0.99
Silver - This level includes tournaments with a buy-in ranging from $1 to $9.99.
Gold - This level includes tournaments with a buy-in ranging from $10 and upwards.
Points will be reset on a monthly basis and prizes are paid out in two steps. 25% of the total prize pool will be paid out to the players topping the leader boards at the halfway mark. 75% will be paid out to the players topping the leader boards at the end of the month. Top 20 in the gold race, top 30 in the silver race and top 40 in the bronze race receive a prize.
NB All 1-Up S&G (double or nothing), all instant All-in S&G's, all satellite tournaments, any play money tournaments and all freerolls are not eligible for leader board points.
